President Mahama Unveils 19-Member Cabinet and Holds First Meeting

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama called the first meeting of his newly chosen 19-member cabinet at Jubilee House. The summit was an important milestone in the government’s plan because it concentrated on economic and national security strategies.
New Cabinet Members Announced
Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, briefed journalists following the meeting, stating that the primary agenda was to introduce cabinet members and outline their responsibilities. The newly appointed ministers include:
- Minister for Finance: Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson
- Minister for the Interior: Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka
- Minister for Health: Kwabena Mintah Akandoh
- Minister for Defence: Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah
- Attorney General and Minister for Justice: Dominic Akuritinga Ayine
- Minister for Energy and Green Transition: John Abdulai Jinapor
- Minister for Education: Haruna Iddrisu
- Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry: Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare
- Minister for Lands and Natural Resources: Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah
- Minister for Foreign Affairs: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
- Minister for Food and Agriculture: Eric Opoku
- Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations: Samuel Nartey George
- Minister for Roads and Highways: Kwame Governs Agbodza
- Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology: Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed
- Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources: Kenneth Adjei
- Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs: Ahmed Ibrahim
- Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection: Naa Momo Lartey
- Minister for Transport: Joseph Bukari Nikpe
- Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment: Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo
Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation; George Opare Addo, the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment; Emelia Arthur, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; and Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, were among the other ministers present.

Security and Economic Briefings
Important conversations regarding Ghana’s economic and security prospects took place during the cabinet meeting. According to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, the president was reassured by the Interior Minister, the Defense Minister, and the National Security Coordinator that the country would remain stable and that security forces would be ready to deal with any new threats.
Goosie Obuadum Tanoh, the Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, gave updates on the 24-hour economy initiative’s implementation. According to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, everything was going according to plan, and a special secretariat would be in place to inform the public of any updates.
According to an economic review given by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the financial position was more difficult than expected. President Mahama and his economic team are still hopeful, though, that their policy changes can stabilize the economy and spur expansion.

President Mahama is expected to deliver a formal address to Parliament in the coming days. His speech will detail the government’s economic recovery strategy, security plans, and broader policy initiatives aimed at national development
