Mason Jailed 3 Years for Wrecking $35,900 Luxury Vehicle
Mason Sentenced to Three Years for Damaging $35,900 Vehicle

Senyo Awuku, a 32-year-old bricklayer, was found guilty of illegally destroying a $35,900 Donfeng Ex-Box car and was given a three-year prison sentence with hard labor. Because of Awuku’s activities, the Hisense Company Limited vehicle sustained irreversible damage. Under the direction of Ms. Enid Marful-Sau, the Amasaman Circuit Court rendered the decision.
Although Awuku acknowledged damaging the car, he refuted further accusations of theft and illegal access. The court has set March 13, 2025, as the date for his trial on these additional charges, which include taking GHC4,000 in cash and an HP laptop valued at GHC4,300 from the complainant, Mr. Gad Ebenezer Afranie Kisi.
Incident Details
Police Chief Inspector Salifu Nashiru claims that the accused lives in the Accra suburb of Hobor, while the complainant, who works in customer service for Hisense Company Limited, dwells in Danchira Ocloo Farms. Before going to bed on January 30, 2025, Mr. Kisi left his laptop, cash, and car key in his room and parked his government vehicle, a Donfeng Ex-Box, in his property. He informed the Danchira Police right away after learning the next morning that his car and possessions had been taken.
Mr. Kisi posted images of the stolen car on social media to help in its recovery. He was tipped off by a buddy who saw the automobile near Amasaman-Three Junction on February 1, 2025. When the complainant arrived at the scene, Awuku was in the car, but the accused quickly drove away when he saw him.
After a fast-paced pursuit, Awuku crashed the stolen vehicle into a container at Ademan, seriously damaging it. Awuku tried to escape on foot after the collision, but onlookers caught him and turned him over to the police.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing
Awuku was charged following extensive investigations and brought before the court. He apologized for his acts and begged for leniency during punishment. The prosecution did, however, highlight the extent of the vehicle’s damage and its irreparable state.
Awuku was sentenced to three years in jail with hard labor by the court, which took into account the severity of the damages and his request for mitigation. The court also mandated that the laptop and other seized stolen property be returned.
The judiciary’s dedication to upholding justice and defending property rights is further demonstrated by this case, which serves as a stark warning against unlawful activity.
