The Met Gala 2025 returned with flair and finesse as fashion’s biggest night lit up New York City on Monday evening. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” honored Black cultural contributions to fashion, marking the first Gala since 2003 to spotlight menswear.

Inspired by a new Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit celebrating the “Black dandy,” the night showcased how tailoring and personal style have helped shape Black identity across the Atlantic diaspora.

As A-list celebrities reinvented style and daring expression, the red carpet glistened with memorable outfits. Sharp tailoring and subtle glamor were expertly combined in Zendaya’s cream Louis Vuitton suit, which she accessorized with a dramatic wide-brimmed hat and red nails. Demi Moore exemplified innovation with a tie-inspired sequin gown by Thom Browne, while Kim Kardashian made a statement in a black leather ensemble by Chrome Hearts that featured a crocodile.

Other standout moments included Rihanna’s surprise pregnancy reveal in Marc Jacobs, with partner A$AP Rocky by her side, and Diana Ross’ first Met appearance since 2003—a tribute to her family, complete with names embroidered on her gown’s train. Bad Bunny, in a custom Prada suit, honored Puerto Rican heritage, and Chappell Roan embraced disco energy in hot pink patchwork.

Men also shone brightly: Sir Lewis Hamilton in a Wales Bonner suit, Barry Keoghan in floral Valentino, and Colman Domingo revealing a dual Valentino look that honored Andre Leon Talley. Meanwhile, Andre 3000 carried a literal piano on his back, blending fashion with performance art.

Standout women included Lupita Nyong’o in powder blue Chanel, Simone Biles in electric blue Harbison, and Doja Cat with powerful shoulder pads by Marc Jacobs. From Tracee Ellis Ross’s pink suit and top hat to Janelle Monáe’s tailored Thom Browne suit, the red carpet buzzed with individuality and homage.

The 2025 Met Gala was more than fashion—it was a vibrant celebration of culture, identity, and creativity, showing how Black style continues to influence the global fashion narrative.
