Moana 2 Makes a Splash with First Full Trailer
The much-anticipated first full trailer for “Moana 2” has been released, providing a glimpse into the next chapter of Moana’s adventures.
While the trailer keeps many details under wraps, Disney has shared a general outline of the plot. The sequel follows Moana as she responds to an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, embarking on a perilous journey across the far seas of Oceania and exploring long-lost waters.
The new animated musical promises an expansive voyage featuring familiar faces such as Maui, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, and new characters, including Moana’s loyal rooster Heihei and pet pig Pua, both prominently featured in the trailer.

“Moana 2” continues the story from the 2016 original, where Moana, a brave Polynesian teenage girl, undertakes a daring mission across the ocean to save her people. Auli’i Cravalho and Johnson return to voice Moana and Maui, respectively. In a lighthearted moment from the trailer, Maui jokes with Moana about making “bacon and eggs,” holding Heihei and Pua in each hand.
The release of the trailer has sparked a mix of excitement and skepticism among fans. While many express enthusiasm for the sequel, appreciating the original’s memorable songs and storyline, others question the necessity of a follow-up. Some fans have expressed hope that the new film’s songs will match the iconic status of the first, while others remain “cautiously optimistic” about the storyline.
However, not all reactions have been positive. Some fans feel that Disney is overextending by creating sequels and remakes of successful films. With the release date set for November 27, “Moana 2” will face competition from “Wicked,” another highly anticipated film slated for the same day. Additionally, a live-action remake of “Moana,” also starring Johnson, is scheduled for release in 2026.
As the premiere date approaches, Disney aims to capture the hearts of both nostalgic fans and a new generation of viewers with “Moana 2.”
