SPORT NEWS: Mohammed Kudus Set to Miss Up to Six Matches Following Red Card Against Spurs
Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has received the first red card of his career in the English Premier League during West Ham United’s disappointing 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Kudus was initially booked for striking Spurs players Micky Van De Ven and Pape Sarr during a confrontation. However, after a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), his yellow card was overturned, and he was issued a straight red card.
As a result of this dismissal, Kudus is set to miss key upcoming matches, including fixtures against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton. Former EPL referee Mike Dean, in an appearance on Sky Sports, indicated that the punishment might extend beyond these three matches. He explained that, due to retrospective action, Kudus could be sidelined for up to six games, potentially delaying his return until December.
This extended suspension means Kudus would be eligible to return for West Ham’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 9. The decision has significant implications for the team’s midfield dynamics and their performance in the crucial weeks ahead as they navigate a challenging schedule without one of their key players.
