Appiah-Kubi: NAPO Not My Choice to Partner Bawumia

Andy Appiah-Kubi, the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has expressed reservations about Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, being selected as the running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December elections.

While acknowledging NAPO’s qualifications, Appiah-Kubi stated in an interview with Joy News that NAPO would not be his personal choice for the role.

Appiah-Kubi emphasized that his views are personal and do not represent a collective position of the caucus, as they have not been consulted on the matter.

He indicated a preference for a candidate who could closely connect with parliamentarians and effectively campaign in various constituencies.

“I would want somebody who would be open with the people on the ground, who would be able to deliver the votes, who would submit to the presidency, and who would be important in bringing Parliament closer to the executive,” Appiah-Kubi said.

Despite his personal stance, Appiah-Kubi reiterated that his opinion does not imply that NAPO is unqualified. His comments reflect a desire for a running mate who can enhance the party’s unity and effectiveness on the ground.
