National Education Forum Begins in Ho, Ghana: Bold Reforms Ahead
National Education Forum Kicks Off in Ho, Ghana: Key Stakeholders to Discuss Education Transformation

Today marks the official opening of the much-anticipated National Education Forum in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region. The forum will bring together over 300 education stakeholders from a variety of sectors to talk and deliberate on the future of Ghana’s educational system. This year’s conference subject, “Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future,” highlights the need for creative teaching methods that will benefit students and society at large.
Teachers, students, parents, lecturers, educators, and members of civil society organizations are among the many interest groups that are anticipated to participate in substantial numbers during the event. John Dramani Mahama, the president of Ghana who came up with the concept for the forum, will formally inaugurate the meeting.
Following a series of engagements, the forum will conclude later this week with a two-day validation conference in Accra. Similar forums are scheduled for the other regions of Ghana in the upcoming months, with the Ho event serving as the first zonal engagement for the Volta and Oti regions. The objective of these talks is to create a consensus paper that summarizes the main points and suggestions made by all parties.
The Planning Committee’s chairman, Prof. George K.T. Oduro, provided insights into the procedure, indicating that the committee anticipates creating a thematic action plan for putting the reforms proposed during the conference into practice. Furthermore, a national education policy framework will be created to direct the future course of the nation’s educational system.
To enable people, especially young people, to submit their ideas, an online interaction platform has been established. With an emphasis on important topics including governance, research and data, quality service, education infrastructure, and education financing, more than 1,000 proposals have already been received.
Development partners will have the chance to determine whether of the topics raised are in line with their assistance initiatives at the validation conference in Accra after the regional engagements. The validation workshop, Prof. Oduro stressed, would enable stakeholders to make the final decisions that would advance the country’s educational reforms.
As Ghana strives for a more equitable and high-quality education system, this forum is a critical step towards creating a more sustainable and impactful educational framework for future generations.
