UK Changes Visa Application Process in Ghana to Enhance Service

Starting from October 22, 2024, Ghanaians applying for visas to the UK will need to complete their applications through a new visa application center (VAC), managed by VFS Global. This change follows the UK’s decision to switch from its previous third-party supplier, TLScontact, to VFS Global in order to enhance the efficiency of visa processing services.

The UK government has stated that this transition aims to improve the overall experience for applicants. The move is expected to result in shorter biometric and application submission times, while still ensuring that visa application decisions, processing times, and fees remain unchanged. Additionally, a more efficient passport collection process is anticipated, with an average collection time of 20 minutes.

The new UK visa application center will be located at the Mezzanine Floor, Grand Oyeeman Building, South Liberation Link in Accra. Individuals who began their visa applications with TLScontact will be required to complete the process with VFS Global. Affected applicants will receive emails with further instructions, ensuring a smooth transition without any disruptions to their application status.

Marc Owen, Director of Visa, Status and Information Services for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), emphasized that the opening of the new center marks a significant milestone in providing a world-class visa operation for Ghana and other regions. This transition is part of a broader initiative to introduce digital innovations that bring greater convenience to applicants.
