NIA Introduces New Fees for Ghana Card Services at Premium Registration Centres

The Ghana Card services pricing schedule at a few premium registration sites has been revised by the National Identification Authority (NIA). First-time registration, card replacement, and record revisions are among the services for which these updated fees are applicable.
According to an official announcement posted on the NIA’s Facebook page on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the following charges will take effect at designated registration centres:
– First-time registration: GH₵310.00
– Record updates: GH₵310.00
– Card replacement: GH₵420.00
– Simultaneous record update and card replacement: GH₵355.00
– Nationality update: GH₵365.00

The NIA explained that these fees are still only applicable at premium service locations and have been in effect at designated facilities since May 2024. First-time registration is still free at district offices throughout Ghana, though. Furthermore, card replacement at district offices across the country costs GH₵125.00, which makes it a more cost-effective choice for people who don’t need premium services.
For people both domestically and internationally, the Ghana Card is the official national identity card. It uses biometric features for safe authentication and serves as identification, citizenship, and residency evidence. The Ghana Card has been essential for financial transactions, voter registration, healthcare, and government service access ever since it was introduced.
With the NIA providing services to Ghanaians living abroad, more than 18 million Ghanaians have enrolled. In 2024, the first foreign issuance was noted in Ottawa, Canada. As part of continuous efforts to improve service delivery at premium registration centres, the pricing structure has been modified. To ensure more accessibility to the Ghana Card, citizens are urged to utilise district offices where initial registration is still free.
