No Hiring Freeze in Ghana! Finance Minister Assures
No Freeze on Public Sector Jobs – Finance Minister Assures Ghanaians

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has denied reports that the government has put a stop to hiring in the public sector. In response to public worries, he emphasised the government’s commitment to job creation and underlined that hiring is still ongoing in vital industries. In a Wednesday, March 12 exclusive interview with Channel One TV, Dr. Forson denied rumours that fresh government appointments had been put on hold. Reiterating that the public sector is still open to hiring based on sectoral and economic needs, he called such stories deceptive..
“There is no freeze on employment,” he stated firmly. “The government continues to recruit personnel into essential services such as health, education, and security. We remain dedicated to ensuring that critical sectors receive the workforce required to sustain and enhance service delivery.”
His statement comes at a time when concerns have grown over limited job opportunities within the public sector. Many citizens had feared that economic constraints could lead to restrictions on hiring, potentially worsening unemployment in the country.
Government’s Focus on Job Creation
Dr. Forson emphasised the government’s overall economic plan, which places a high priority on creating jobs, particularly for young people. He reaffirmed the administration’s objective of promoting sustainable economic growth by assuring Ghanaians that steps are being taken to maintain hiring in key areas.
“The government is taking proactive steps to ensure job availability, particularly in sectors that directly impact national development,” he added. “We are also working on initiatives to improve employment conditions and create more opportunities for young professionals.”
Strengthening Public Services
The government’s dedication to preserving and enhancing vital public services is demonstrated by the Finance Minister’s clarification. Authorities hope to avoid labour shortages in vital industries like security, healthcare, and education by guaranteeing ongoing hiring. Dr. Forson urged Ghanaians to believe in the government’s continuous efforts to improve employment opportunities in a variety of industries and to ignore reports of a hiring freeze in the public sector. The Finance Minister’s pledge is in line with Ghana’s overarching economic plan to develop a robust and resilient labour force. Ghanaians should anticipate long-term work prospects in vital public service areas as long as the government keeps enacting policies meant to promote economic stability and job growth.
