NPP Sends Adwoa Safo to Disciplinary Panel Over Shocking Remarks
NPP Refers Adwoa Safo to Disciplinary Committee Over Controversial Media Remarks

Sarah Adwoa Safo, a former Member of Parliament (MP) from Dome-Kwabenya, has been formally reported to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for remarks she made during a media appearance that were allegedly against party rules. The NPP stressed in a statement issued on Thursday, March 20, 2025, and signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party’s general secretary, that Adwoa Safo’s comments on Joy News’ Pulse Show violated a standing order sent to all party members warning them not to make public statements that could sow dissatisfaction and division within the party.
The statement emphasized the value of maintaining party unity and stated that Adwoa Safo and every other party member had been specifically instructed not to discuss internal party issues in a way that would incite animosity and disenchantment among supporters and the public.
“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read. “Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermine the party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.”
The former lawmaker was expected to maintain party unity and discipline after serving as the previous NPP administration’s Minister of State and Deputy Majority Leader. Nonetheless, the party pointed out that her disregard for these values violated Article 3(5) of the NPP’s constitution, which requires members to uphold and defend the party’s image.
“In light of this, the party has resolved to refer her case to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action,” the statement added
The NPP is trying to strengthen its base and promote unity after losing the general elections in 2024, thus this decision comes at a crucial moment. Aiming to prevent public outbursts that would exacerbate internal divides and sabotage reorganization efforts before the next election cycle, recent guidelines have been issued. The Disciplinary Committee’s next discussions will decide Adwoa Safo’s standing within the party and the repercussions of her acts. Political analysts and party members are closely monitoring the NPP’s response to internal dissension as it works to keep a united and orderly face in preparation for upcoming elections.
