NSMQ 2024: Tamale SHS, Koforidua SHTS, and Keta SHTS Secure Semi-Final Spots with Outstanding Performances

In a day filled with intense competition, Tamale Senior High School (SHS), Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SHTS), and Keta Senior High Technical School (SHTS) have secured their places in the semi-finals of the 2024 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ). The contests, held on Wednesday, captivated audiences with nail-biting performances that highlighted the academic prowess of the participating schools.
The first contest of the day featured a fierce battle between Tamale SHS, St. John’s School, and Accra Academy. Tamale SHS emerged victorious, demonstrating sharp intellect and quick problem-solving abilities to accumulate 40 points, just enough to edge out St. John’s School. St. John’s put up a strong fight and finished with 38 points, showcasing their resilience, while Accra Academy closed the contest with a respectable 32 points.
In the second contest, Koforidua SHTS delivered an outstanding performance, earning an impressive 46 points. Their competitors, Adonten SHS and Ghana SHS (Koforidua), were no match for Koforidua’s academic might, both finishing with 25 points each, securing Koforidua SHTS a comfortable lead and a spot in the semi-finals.

The final contest of the day saw Keta SHTS rise to the occasion with a commanding display of academic excellence. Keta SHTS earned 54 points, overpowering their competitors, Achimota School and Mpraeso SHS. Achimota School fought valiantly and managed to score 42 points, but it wasn’t enough to match Keta’s impressive tally. Mpraeso SHS, on the other hand, struggled to keep up and finished with 21 points.
These victories place Tamale SHS, Koforidua SHTS, and Keta SHTS among the elite teams in this year’s NSMQ, setting the stage for an exciting semi-final round.
