Egyptian fencer Nada Hafez made headlines by competing in the Paris Olympics while seven months pregnant. The 26-year-old athlete revealed her pregnancy after she was eliminated in the last 16, sharing her pride and journey on Instagram.

“What appears to you as two players on the podium, they were actually three! It was me, my competitor, and my yet-to-come baby,” Hafez wrote. She expressed the immense physical and emotional challenges she faced, balancing the demands of pregnancy and high-level sports.

“My baby and I faced numerous challenges, both physical and emotional. The rollercoaster of pregnancy is tough on its own, but balancing life and sports was incredibly strenuous, though entirely worth it.” Hafez shared her pride in securing a place in the Round of 16 and acknowledged the crucial support of her husband and family.

In the competition, Hafez triumphed over American fencer Elizabeth Tartakovsky before being bested by Jeon Hayoung of South Korea. Her participation and performance have inspired many, demonstrating incredible strength and determination.
