Omane Boamah: Ghana to Boost Counterterrorism Efforts
Ghana to Strengthen Counter-Terrorism Efforts – Omane Boamah

The Minister-designate for Defense, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, has reiterated his dedication to fortifying Ghana’s security structure in reaction to the escalating terrorism threat in West Africa.
In his interview with the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, January 28, Dr. Boamah stressed the importance of strengthening national defense plans. He emphasized the value of Ghana’s Fractional Orbital Bombardment Systems (FOB), a vital piece of technology for border security and early threat detection.
Dr. Boamah emphasized that the changing security environment necessitates more sophisticated technology solutions, while acknowledging the proactive efforts of past administrations in preserving stability. He cautioned that as terrorist attacks in nearby nations increase, Ghana must continue to exercise caution.
“The Fractional Orbital Bombardment Systems (FOB) are vital in safeguarding Ghana. While successive governments have made commendable strides in countering terrorism, intelligence suggests that sleeper cells exist. We must deploy FOB technology to reinforce our borders and prevent potential attacks,” Dr. Boamah stated.
Ghana is susceptible to outside attacks since it shares more than 2,000 kilometers of borders. Ghanaians were reassured by the defense minister-designate that all essential measures will be taken to strengthen national security and protect the country’s territorial integrity.
