Ghana’s Parliament has officially approved three additional ministerial nominees under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. Haruna Iddrisu has been confirmed as Minister for Education, Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways, and Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture.

The Appointments Committee conducted a vetting process to assess their qualifications, experience, and strategies for addressing challenges in their respective ministries.

At the plenary session, chaired by Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah, both the Majority and Minority commended the nominees for their competence, leadership qualities, and commitment to national development. Their confirmation shows a consensus across both political sides on their ability to contribute meaningfully to governance.

With these new approvals, President Mahama’s administration has now successfully secured parliamentary endorsement for six key ministers. The earlier batch of approvals included Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Minister for Finance, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy, and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.

In the absence of Speaker Alban Bagbin, the parliamentary session was led by the Second Deputy Speaker, ensuring a smooth confirmation process.

These newly appointed ministers are expected to play a crucial role in driving the government’s policy agenda, focusing on education reform, road infrastructure development, and agricultural advancements.
