President Akufo-Addo Nominates Herbert Krapa as Minister of State at Energy Ministry
President Nana Akufo-Addo has nominated Herbert Krapa as the Minister of State at the Energy Ministry, highlighting the increasing demands on the ministry as the rationale behind this appointment.
Krapa, who is currently serving as a Deputy Minister for Energy and also chairs the Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana, is set to take on this new role pending parliamentary approval.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, conveyed the President’s request, noting the growing workload within the ministry. Traditionally, the Energy Ministry has been overseen by a substantive minister supported by three deputy ministers.
However, given the current pressures, the President has found it necessary to appoint an additional Minister of State to better manage the responsibilities. Bagbin announced, “In accordance with Article 78 of the Constitution, I am seeking parliamentary approval for the appointment of Honourable Herbert Krapa as Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy.”
