President Tinubu Sacks Six Ministers, Appoints Seven New Nominees
President Tinubu Fires 6 Ministers, Nominates 7 New Cabinet Members in Major Government Shakeup

President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled his cabinet by dismissing six ministers and nominating seven new ones as replacements. Among those removed from their positions are Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), Uju Kennedy Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Mohammed Gwarzo (State for Housing), Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), and the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu.
In their place, the President has forwarded seven new ministerial nominees to the National Assembly for confirmation. Notably, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of the late Nigerian statesman Dim Ojukwu, is among the new appointees.
This major cabinet shake-up was announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, during a press briefing after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The President also took the opportunity to rename the Ministry of Niger Delta to the Ministry of Regional Development.
The reshuffling comes after President Tinubu had previously expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some ministers during his first year in office, signaling that underperformance would not be tolerated in his administration. The new appointments are expected to bring fresh energy and direction to the administration’s efforts to drive national development.
