Ras Kuuku Advocates for Gyakie as Best Female Vocalist at TGMA
Ghanaian reggae artist Ras Kuuku has expressed his support for songstress Gyakie, arguing that she deserved the Female Vocal Performance award at the recent Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz, Ras Kuuku highlighted Gyakie’s impressive contributions to the music scene over the past year and insisted she was the most deserving candidate for the award.
Interestingly, Gyakie wasn’t even nominated for the Best Female Vocal Performance category. The nominees for this award included Niiella, Titi Owusu, Adina, Abiana, Lordina The Soprano, and Queendalyn Yurglee, with Yurglee ultimately taking home the prize.

Ras Kuuku questioned this omission, saying, “I think Gyakie should have won the Female Vocalist of the Year. She did a lot of work last year, especially with her collaborations, like with JBEE from the UK. She did well but got nothing. Why is that so?”
The Best Female Vocal Performance award at the TGMA is determined by the Academy and Boards, recognizing the female artist with the best vocal delivery or performance on any musical piece released during the year under review.
Despite Gyakie’s absence from the nominee list, Ras Kuuku firmly believes she demonstrated the vocal prowess worthy of the accolade.
