Sadio Mane and Wife Aisha Tamba Welcome First Child in Riyadh, Hold Traditional Naming Ceremony in Senegal

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Senegalese football player Sadio Mane and his teenage wife Aisha Tamba had their first child together. In Dakar, Senegal, the couple, who were married in January 2024, recently had a customary “bapteme” (naming ceremony) for their newborn daughter, Animata.
The ceremony took place at Mane’s uncle’s home, where the 32-year-old former Liverpool forward and his 19-year-old wife were joined by close relatives and friends. Family celebrations, applauding, and joyful dancing characterized the event.
In keeping with the ceremony’s cultural importance, Aisha’s father wore an all-white ensemble, and her mother looked stunning in a bright yellow dress. A video from the celebration showed happy family members dancing and singing traditional songs to celebrate Animata’s birth.
The 13-year age gap between Mane and Tamba has brought attention to their connection. It is thought that Mane helped pay for Tamba’s schooling after noticing her for the first time when she was sixteen. Her father noted, though, that the couple didn’t begin dating until she reached adulthood.
Tamba’s father described how Mane met his daughter on a family visit in a prior interview. “Our families bonded well, and Sadio saw something special in her,” he said, thanking the football player for his support. Everything was done in accordance with tradition.
Mane revealed his goals for his family earlier this year, saying he wanted three or four kids. “I would say three or four if I had a choice, but God makes the final decision,” Mane said in an interview.
After the ceremony, Mane went back to Saudi Arabia to rejoin Al-Nassr, his team. Mane scored a vital goal as the club defeated Al-Kholood 3-1. Fans responded to his touching celebration by seeing him rock his arms in honor of his newborn daughter.
Their family is ecstatic about the arrival of Sadio Mane and Aisha Tamba’s daughter. The couple keeps going forward, embracing their cultural customs and happiness despite the conversations around their relationship. It’s obvious that 2025 is going to be an incredible year for Mane, both personally and professionally, now that he’s back on the field and doing well..
