Samuel Awuku, popularly known as Sammi Awuku, has officially tendered his resignation as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA). His decision, announced on January 13, 2025, follows his recent election as the Member of Parliament for Akwapim North Constituency. Awuku communicated his decision in a formal letter to President John Dramani Mahama, emphasizing his commitment to serving his constituents effectively.

Sammi Awuku, a prominent political figure, was appointed as the Director-General of the NLA in August 2021 by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Before this role, he served as the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). In his resignation letter, Awuku explained that his new parliamentary responsibilities require his undivided attention.

The resignation letter was also copied to several key officials, including Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission, and senior staff at the Ministry of Finance and NLA.

Awuku wrote:
“I write to formally inform you of my resignation as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority effective January 13, 2025. I have been elected as a Member of Parliament for the Akwapim North Constituency and have been duly sworn in to represent my constituents. In light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament.”

This marks another significant milestone in Sammi Awuku’s career, highlighting his continuous contributions to Ghana’s political landscape. His resignation opens a new chapter, allowing him to channel his experience and energy toward legislative duties for his constituents.
