AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Sudan Stuns Ghana with a 2-0 Victory in Libya
In a pivotal Group F clash of the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers, Sudan handed Ghana’s Black Stars a 2-0 defeat on Tuesday, October 15. The match, held at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benina, Libya, saw Sudan take control with two quick second-half goals, leaving Ghana winless in the qualifiers.
Sudan’s Ahmed Al Tash and Mohamed Abdelrahman netted the decisive goals, further mounting pressure on Black Stars manager Otto Addo as Ghana’s qualification hopes hang in the balance.
The two sides had previously played to a 0-0 draw in their first meeting at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday, but Sudan seized their opportunity in this second encounter.
After this defeat, Ghana remains winless in four matches, with just two points to show for their efforts, complicating their path to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. As the pressure builds, the Black Stars will need a swift turnaround to keep their qualification chances alive.
