Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is the preferred presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections, securing 38.9% of voter support, according to a survey conducted by Professor Smart Sarpong, Director of Research and Innovation at Kumasi Technical University.
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), follows closely with 36.1% support.
The survey highlights that Bawumia leads in the regions of Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, North East, Western, and Western North. Collectively, all other presidential aspirants account for 3.6% of voter support.
Additionally, the survey reveals that 21.4% of prospective voters had not yet decided on a presidential candidate as of the end of April 2024.

The North East region shows the highest support for Bawumia, with 60% of voters in his favor. Conversely, 75.7% of voters in the Volta region have decided to vote for Mahama.
Data collection for this baseline study took place over 30 days, from April 1 to April 30, 2024.
