The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana has halted the implementation of recently approved fees for nurses, pending a review.

This move comes after the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association initially announced plans to strike in response to the Council’s significant increase in the nursing verification fee from GH¢500 to GH¢3,000.

However, they later withdrew their strike plans following discussions with the Health Ministry. The Council’s decision to suspend the new fees was reached during a meeting of the 15th

Governing Board on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. This decision, made after consultations with relevant stakeholders, will see a return to the previous fee structure.

“This decision follows discussions with relevant stakeholders, regarding their concerns. In the meantime, the Council will revert to the previous fee structure.”
