The National Youth Authority (NYA) advises young people to refrain from viewing pornographic content on social media platforms. Stay informed on youth guidance and online safety.

The National Youth Authority (NYA) cautions young people against consuming pornographic content on social media, warning that it could lead to moral corruption and risky sexual behavior, potentially resulting in STDs or dropping out of school, particularly among girls.

Nelson Owusu Ansah, the Deputy CEO of NYA, emphasized this advice during a training seminar in Koforidua, where 70 social media youth leaders and influencers were gathered to address sexual reproductive health issues.

The seminar aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge so they could effectively educate youth on these matters. Ansah highlighted the detrimental effects of watching pornographic material, especially on social media platforms, on young people’s well-being. He emphasized the importance of using social media platforms to engage and educate youth, rather than exposing them to harmful content.

The event, organized by NYA in collaboration with UNESCO, UNFPA, and other partners, aimed to raise awareness about reproductive health education among youth. Participants, including bloggers like Felix Kwame Yeboah Jr and Abigail Boateng, pledged to utilize their platforms for positive purposes, such as promoting trading, reproductive health education, and advocacy programs.
