As the 2023 BECE approaches, new regulations from the GES state that applicants cannot enter exam rooms wearing socks or watches. The 2023 BECE exam candidate guidelines are intended to address the cheating scourge at that level.
Examinee cheating in Ghana is becoming more complex, necessitating the development of innovative solutions.

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Education Office of the Ghana Education Service has made these new BECE exam regulations for candidates public as part of its efforts to combat examination misconduct.
They are instructed to wear “ONLY Flat Open Sandals, without Socks” to the assessment room. The sandal shown below is an example of a Flat Open Sandal.

According to our research, one of the reasons for this regulation is that students have a propensity to stow away prepared notes, answers, and other foreign materials in their socks in order to avoid being discovered and end up bringing them into the exam rooms on the invigilators’ blind side.
Candidates for the 2023 BECE are not permitted to enter the examination room with wristwatches, mobile phones, headphones or earpieces, or any other electronic devices, according to the order.
