A two-year-old toddler who sustained severe injuries in a dog attack is showing encouraging signs of recovery, thanks to a successful plastic surgery.

The attack, which resulted in the loss of the boy’s buttocks and testicles, left him in critical condition at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. However, recent developments have brought hope to his family and supporters.

The traumatic event initially shocked the community, leading to widespread concern and support for the child and his family. The toddler was in intensive care for several weeks before undergoing his first plastic surgery, which aimed to cover a significant wound on his anus. The procedure was successful, and the boy is now on the path to recovery.

Eugene Addo, the child’s father, expressed his gratitude and relief following the surgery. He praised the medical team and thanked everyone who provided support during this challenging time. “I am grateful to everyone who came to my son’s aid,” he said.

The family’s ordeal has garnered significant attention and support, with many offering financial assistance to help with the mounting medical bills. The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dakoa Newman, visited the hospital and pledged to seek legal action to ensure justice is served. Additionally, the Social Welfare Department has offered temporary accommodation for the family until the child fully recovers.

Support has also come from various organizations and individuals. Wendy Boatemaa Ofori, a nurse and co-founder of the Redeeming Hands Foundation, has been instrumental in raising funds for the child’s medical bills. She has also provided essential items for his care, including a wound vac machine, which is crucial for his healing process.

The family remains hopeful that with continued medical care and the support of well-wishers, their brave toddler will overcome this ordeal and continue to recover.
