Tragic Death: Mexican Beauty Star Shot on TikTok Live
Mexican Beauty Influencer Fatally Shot During TikTok Livestream in Suspected Femicide

Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old Mexican beauty influencer, was shot dead during a TikTok live stream in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in a tragic incident that shocked the online community. According to the state prosecutor’s office, a man entered Marquez’s beauty salon in the Zapopan district and opened fire while she was broadcasting live.
In the moments before the attack, Marquez, who had almost 200,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok, was seen speaking to her audience and holding a stuffed animal. Local reports suggest that the attacker may have pretended to be a visitor with a gift. The livestream captured the horrific moment she was shot, and the video was only stopped when someone nearby picked up her phone.
Around 6:30 p.m. local time, authorities arrived at the scene and declared Marquez deceased. Although no suspect has been identified, the case is being handled as a femicide, which is the legal term for the death of women based on their gender in Mexico. This distinction highlights the pervasive problem of violence against women in the nation.
The United Nations estimates that ten women or girls are murdered in Mexico every day, frequently by spouses or family members. There were no previous complaints from Marquez that she had received threats or sought protection from authorities, according to Zapopan Mayor Juan José Frangie, who voiced indignation over the incident. He referred to the killing as “one of the most terrible acts,” highlighting the pressing need to address gender-based violence.
In addition to fans and followers flooding social media with expressions of grief and shock over the influencer’s unexpected demise, forensic teams have been sent to inspect the area. Her murder raises new worries about safety and gender-based attacks in the region as it joins the increasing list of Latin American public personalities who have been the target of violent crimes.
