Chiume’s illustrious career spanned decades, with memorable roles in South African television shows such as Rhythm City, Zone 14, and more recently, Gomora. She rose to prominence in 1989 with her appearance in the popular South African television series Inkom’ Edla Yodwa.

Her contribution to the entertainment industry was recognized with numerous awards. In 2000, she received the NTVA Avanti Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Soul City. She was honored again in 2009 with a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of Stella Moloi in Zone 14. Most recently, she appeared in Heart of the Hunter, released earlier this year, and the TV series Soon Comes Night in February.
