Trump Safe After Apparent Assassination Attempt at West Palm Beach Golf Course

Former President Donald Trump was rushed to safety after an apparent assassination attempt at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. The incident occurred as Secret Service agents, performing security sweeps, spotted a gunman with a rifle, reportedly an AK-47-style weapon, concealed in the shrubbery. Trump was around 300-500 yards away from the shooter at the time.

The Secret Service quickly engaged the suspect, identified by U.S. media as Ryan Routh. After shots were fired, the gunman fled, abandoning his weapon and other items. He was later apprehended, thanks to witness reports and evidence. Routh, who had a history of criminal offenses, was previously known for controversial social media posts, including recruitment efforts for Ukraine’s conflict against Russia.

Trump was unharmed during the incident, and a statement was issued shortly afterward to assure supporters of his safety. He later recounted the ordeal to Fox News, describing how Secret Service agents acted swiftly to protect him during the confrontation.

The incident is the second assassination attempt on Trump in recent months, following a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania. The White House confirmed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been briefed on the matter. Harris expressed her concern and condemned political violence, while a bipartisan congressional task force requested a briefing with the Secret Service to review security measures surrounding the former president.

The FBI, Secret Service, and local law enforcement agencies are currently leading the investigation. Routh’s first court appearance is expected soon.
