ECG Announces Planned Power Outages in Multiple Regions on May 6 & 7, 2025: See Affected Areas and Timings

As part of a planned maintenance exercise, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a widespread power outage that will occur on Tuesday, May 6, and Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The utility supplier revealed that in order to increase power supply stability and guarantee effective service delivery to Ghanaians, temporary electricity outages are required.
The repair operations will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, affecting a number of important locations in the Ashanti Region. Anwomaso, Bebre, Fumesua, Domeabra, Apromase, Krapa, Ejisu, Kokobra, and the neighboring communities are among these places. Residents have received an apology from ECG, which has emphasized the importance of the interruption for long-term service enhancement.
At the same time, disruptions will occur in several areas of the Greater Accra Region from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Dodowa town, the Forest Hotel, Mensah Bar, Saasabi, Bawaleshi, Oyibi, Teshie Ultimate, Teshie First Junction, Yomo Specs, and the surrounding villages are among the affected localities.
On May 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Tema Region will also have a power outage that would impact villages nearby, including Man Trucks, Compu Ghana, Ataa Adama, Latter Day Saints, Methodist Junction, Kpoo Keke, and the Best Western Premier Hotel.
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the work will continue, causing the disruption to spread to further areas. Between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, ECG will do maintenance in the Eastern Region, impacting the following communities: Adonteng, Konkonuru town, Agyeinanti, Ayim, Adinkrabi, Brekusu, Refresh Factory, Regimanuel Estate, Marteyman, and others.
Communities in the Volta Region will also be without electricity between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on the same day. Affected places include Sogakope Township, Adidome, parts of Akatsi, sections of Keta, and neighboring villages.
The Tema Region will also experience power outages from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, affecting localities including Lebanon Zone 3, Zenu, Atadeka, Ahorlukope, Sokpoekope, Afrikape, Mataheko, and its environs.
Advisory and Apology
ECG has advised all residents, businesses, and institutions in the affected zones to prepare accordingly and make adequate arrangements to mitigate the effects of the power outage. The company assures customers that these maintenance works are vital for enhancing power stability and customer satisfaction in the long run.
“ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise,” the company reiterated in its public communication.
