US Embassy in Ghana Vows to Address Student Visa Appointment Delays

The United States Embassy in Ghana has pledged to resolve the ongoing challenges faced by Ghanaian students experiencing delays in securing expedited student visa appointments. Numerous students have expressed frustration over the extended processing times, which have left them concerned about missing crucial academic deadlines and potentially jeopardizing their educational opportunities.
In recent weeks, several applicants have voiced their dissatisfaction with the sluggish pace of the visa application process, urging the embassy to intervene swiftly and help clear the bottleneck. These delays have caused anxiety among students, who fear that the hold-up may affect their academic pursuits in the United States.
During an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, December 19, Stacy Comp, the Visa Chief at the US Embassy in Accra, addressed these concerns. Comp assured the host, Bernard Avle, that the embassy is fully committed to addressing the issue. She acknowledged the frustrations of the applicants and emphasized the embassy’s dedication to resolving the delays efficiently.
Comp also shared her plan to tackle the situation by working directly with the third-party contractor responsible for processing visa applications. She stated that she would request a comprehensive list of students currently waiting for expedited visa appointments and investigate the causes of the delays. Her goal is to ensure that the applicants’ needs are met and that no further delays impact their chances of studying in the United States.
“I can assure you that I will look into this issue, contact the contractor, and see if we can accommodate the students awaiting their expedited appointments,” Comp remarked. “We truly value the interest in studying in the US, and fostering these bilateral exchanges is vital to the relationship between the US and Ghana.”
The embassy’s efforts to address the delays demonstrate their commitment to supporting Ghanaian students and facilitating smoother visa processes for educational opportunities.
