Veteran Actor Mawuli Semevo Passes Away Following Tragic Fire Accident

Following complications from serious burns he received in a tragic house fire accident, renowned Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo tragically passed away. The seasoned actor, who was praised for his stirring on-screen and stage roles, passed away at Ridge Hospital on Friday, February 7, after undergoing treatment there.
According to reports, Semevo, who lived in the Adenta SSNIT apartments, was asleep in his bedroom when the living room caught fire. He was severely burned when he fled through the flames in a last-ditch effort to get out. When he finally got outdoors, he passed out, and worried neighbors hurried him to the Ridge Hospital.
At first, doctors said that only after 21 days of intensive care could they evaluate his chances of survival. Unfortunately, he passed away from his wounds 13 days after the tragedy. Actor George Quaye, Creative Lead at Image Bureau, announced his death and gave a moving homage to Semevo’s memory.
Mawuli Semevo was highly regarded for his remarkable versatility and acting skills. Notable roles in films like *Harvest at 17*, *A Stab in the Dark*, *Escape of Love*, *Like Cotton Twines*, and *The Good Old Days: The Love of AA* are among his highlights. He also performed as Baba Fakunle in the National Theatre’s stage production of Ola Rotimi’s *The Gods Are Not to Blame* last year.
The Ghanaian entertainment industry mourns the loss of a true legend, remembering Semevo for his dedication to the craft and his impact on audiences over the years. May his soul rest in peace.
